Wildfire Home-Hardening Cost-Share Program

This project will measurably reduce home ignition risk and increase homeowner capacity for fire-resistant improvements. All participants will receive a home wildfire assessment, ensuring cost-shared retrofits, such as vent replacements, soffit enclosures, or siding upgrades, address site-specific vulnerabilities. Participants will also receive technical guidance, educational materials, and vendor referrals to complete improvements safely and effectively. With a 50% cost share (waived for low-income households), the project promotes equity and shared responsibility while creating a scalable model for home hardening that strengthens wildfire resilience across Hawaiʻi’s high-risk communities.
