An 85-year-old woman whose house was lost to the 2018 lava flow was left with an unfinished rebuild: only framing, no walls, no bathroom, no kitchen, no electricity and no plumbing — she lives in just the garage. The project was started for her in 2018 after the lava flow, then abandoned with the explanation that there was no more funding.
