Translocation of ‘anianiau to escape avian disease

This project proposes a translocation of ‘anianiau from Kaua‘i to disease-free habitat on Hawai‘i Island. The ‘anianiau is important to save because it plays a vital role in maintaining forest and watershed health. This project aims to conduct the necessary Environmental Assessment and Site Assessment for such an activity, fund a field analysis tool to detect pox prior to translocation, collect the birds for translocation, and support post-translocation monitoring.
