Sea Level Rise Impacts on Buried Infrastructure
This project will evaluate how sea-level rise affects buried infrastructure in coastal O‘ahu by increasing groundwater levels and saltwater intrusion. Field monitoring, numerical modeling, and corrosion testing will characterize subsurface conditions and material vulnerabilities. Results will inform risk mapping, material selection, and adaptation planning. Work will be overseen by the University of Hawai‘i Coastal Resilience Collaborative at SOEST in collaboration with the University of Hawai‘i Corrosion Lab in the Department of engineering to support the efforts of One Water Honolulu.
