Liko Nā Pilina Hybrid Forest Restoration

Liko Nā Pilina is a restoration project located in Located in Hilo, Hawaiʻi, in the ahupuaʻa of Waiakea, we are experimenting with creating new forests using some plants which evolved in Hawaiʻi and others that humans have introduced but which are not invasive (many are canoe plants). This hybrid restoration approach is able to keep out highly invasive species and provide ecosystem services (e.g., carbon storage, watershed protection, plant products useful for humans).
