Kupu Disaster Readiness and Recovery Crew

Building off of Kupu’s experience in conservation and workforce development, including several years of wildfire prevention-focused programs, we propose the creation of a locally-grown and maintained natural disaster readiness and recovery crew. Kupu has partnered with US continent based corps who have operated a similar model, which prepares young adults to mitigate disaster risks and respond to disasters when they strike. Crews would be recruited and managed by Kupu, trained on Oʻahu, and deployable statewide for disaster response.
