Kamole Water Treatment Plant Hazard Mitigation

The Kamole Water Treatment Facility is critical to the drinking water supply for Upcountry Maui. During severe storms and prolonged drought, the facility must shut off due to insufficient flows or turbid stormwater runoff. The project will construct two 70 million gallon reservoirs to capture excess flows and allow the facility to continue to operate during these hazard events. This is a top mitigation priority for the County of Maui Department of Water Supply. The facility was most recently shut down in October 2025 due to severe drought.
