HLRI - Native Hawaiian Reforestation

Hawai‘i's endemic forests are in immediate crisis. Key threats to the remaining species include: habitat destruction and degradation by humans, climate change, invasive plants, alien diseases, invasive predators, and introduced avian mosquitoes. Native trees provide an essential habitat and food source for endemic birds and insects. One day, our keiki will be able to walk through a BIO-DIVERSE native forest and Hawai‘i will no longer be known as “The extinction capital of the world”. From the forests, exists Hawai‘i’s rich culture, arts, and history.
