Maui Nui Coastal Dune Restoration Fund

Establish a dedicated Green Fee funding program to support coastal dune restoration projects throughout Maui County to address shoreline erosion, sea level rise, and climate-related coastal hazards. Provide funding for restoration planning, permitting, invasive species removal, native coastal vegetation, dune stabilization through natural processes, and nature-based solutions that restore and protect coastal ecosystems. Prioritize public beach parks, vulnerable shorelines, and areas where restoration can improve public beach access, protect coastal resources, and enhance climate resilience. Partner with state and county agencies, community organizations, and coastal restoration specialists to implement projects, leverage additional funding, and establish long-term stewardship and maintenance programs.
