Funding for coqui frog eradication equipment for Ha'iku groups

Coqui frog equipment support for Ha'iku Maui Hawaii

Set aside funding to distribute to neighborhood groups and local non-profits to purchase equipment and supplies to contain and eradicate coqui frogs. Examples would be spray units; protective mesh fencing; secure green waste bins; safety equipment. The Ha’iku area has seen an explosion of new coqui habitat areas in the past year, due in part to heavy rains and winds that carry debris with the frog eggs to new neighborhoods. Maui Invasive Species Committee (MISC) has a limited amount of equipment to lend. A large pool of equipment and supplies would support the neighborhood eradication efforts and allow more neighborhoods to take action at the same time. Lets give our neighborhoods the tools they need to contain these pests who don’t only affect farms and nurseries, but also carry diseases, like rat lung worm.
