Fund community transportation for rural tourist hot spots

Provide funding to support community-driven transportation options for tourist hot spots in rural communities such as the North Shore of O’ahu, Kealakekua, Honolua, Hana, and Hanalei. Funding should cover implementation and expansion of projects such as visitor shuttles, parking lot management, and resident priority access to natural and cultural resources. The goal is to promote sustainable tourism through community driven transportation options to decrease traffic and parking congestion along rural highways. This also supports first responders’ response time, improves the visitor experience, and protects residents’ daily mobility and quality of life.
