Follow the Drop Stormwater Capture Program

Follow the Drop is a public-private-partnership between the City and County of Honolulu, O‘ahu nonprofits, and private sector entities including small contractors to increase access to green stormwater infrastructure solutions to existing dwellings and facilities with the goal of scaling stormwater capture across private properties to improve water quality, build water supply and increase resilience. The project entails offering free access to the Follow the Drop app that collects data, provides storm alerts and displays near-real time metrics about a project's impact, free rainwater assessments administered by local nonprofits and recently the addition of a direct install program targeting economically and socially disadvantaged rainwater capture solutions by selected regionally-located contractors. In the first 3-months of the incentive program over 2300 residents signed up expressing a high demand for on property stormwater capture solutions.
