Expand managed stewardship of KAʻEHU coastal wetland

KAʻEHU stewards 64 acres of coastal wetland, springs, and estuary at Kaʻehu Bay, Wailuku, Maui — one of Central Maui's last protected coastal wetland systems and a buffer against flooding, tidal inundation, and erosion. Only about five acres are currently under active restoration; Green Fee investment in invasive-species removal, native and cultural plant restoration, and water-quality monitoring would bring the remaining acreage into managed stewardship. In the first nine months of 2026, KAʻEHU hosted 88 community activities reaching more than 4,100 participants, including 30 volunteer service days and 20 educational huakaʻi for Maui schools, so every restored acre is cared for by the community that uses it.
