Equipping a warehouse for emergency food storage and distribution
Establish a community-based food security and disaster resilience hub on the Waiʻanae Coast that strengthens emergency food storage and distribution capacity while supporting local agriculture, food rescue and a more resilient regional food system. The project would equip a new 10,000-square-foot warehouse, being developed through a partnership between Hawaiʻi Foodbank, Waiʻanae Coast Comprehensive Health Center and ʻElepaio Social Services, with the infrastructure needed to store and move food before, during and after emergencies. During normal operations, the facility would also support local growers and producers, food rescue, local food procurement and distribution to community partners.
