End Hunger Together Capital Initiative
Hawai‘i Foodbank is a proactive leader and supportive partner in disaster preparedness and response, and is leading a major effort to strengthen community resilience in the face of rising food insecurity and the threat of climate-related disasters. Our current facility, at only half the size necessary and at risk from flooding and rising sea levels, hinders our ability to meet this increasing demand and poses risks to our operational effectiveness, especially in times of climate-related disasters. As a result, we are launching a transformative capital project to construct a new, purposefully designed food bank facility in Waipahu. This 46,750 square-foot facility will significantly enhance our capacity to store and distribute food, improve our disaster response capabilities, and offer near-absolute life protection for residents of Milltown and Waipahu, particularly for vulnerable populations such as seniors and individuals with disabilities.
