CRB Eradication Support on Hawai‘i Island

This project would enable Three Mountain Alliance to provide support to assist in the eradication of Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle from the Island of Hawai‘i. CRB is currently detected in Kona but without stricter rules in place to prevent the movement of mulch, we may soon see CRB detected in areas outside of Kona. The window for eradication of this pest is shrinking and TMA would like to be formally involved to help with the collaborative effort to remove this invasive beetle. This project would fund at least 2-4 staff and a vehicle to assist with efforts to communicate with the public, to work in support of Hawai‘i Department of Agriculture, Big Island Invasive Species Committee, and others to find and destroy CRB breeding sites.
