Continue Loko Iʻa Resilience Program funding for LNR 906
Continue the community fund that was granted in Year 1 to LNR 906. The program revives culturally significant loko iʻa to increase coastal resilience and community through community workdays, youth learning, and ecosystem restoration by partnering with local caretakers and community organizations. Funding will expand infrastructure, cultural workshops, and stewardship activities that restore native vegetation, stabilize fishpond walls, improve water flow, and provide hands-on education for schools and visitors. Together, these efforts strengthen traditional aquaculture and this food security, enhance climate and ecosystem resilience, and create a living classroom of community-driven fishponds across Hawaiʻi. Total amount requested: $500,000. Submitted by Kuaʻāina Ulu ʻAuamo (KUA), in support of DAR's same request.
