Capacity for bird monitoring and predator control

To determine where best to target limited conservation and restoration funds to protect and recover Kaua’i’s forest bird species, and to assess impacts of management such as rodent and mosquito control, ongoing survey information is needed. Yet capacity to conduct surveys, analyze survey data, and conduct rodent contol is lacking on Kaua’i, due to the lack of year-round funding. The objective of this proposal is to fund a permanent field crew of two technicians at Kaua’i Forest Bird Recovery Project (KFBRP) that can provide this capacity.
