Aloha Safe Homes - Education/Outreach

This project builds upon the Aloha Safe Homes Project that educates residents (homes and condos) how to: (i) determine their hazard risk (hurricanes, wildfire, tsunamis, floods, and climate change); (ii) gather the 14-day emergency supplies of food & water to minimize space & cost requirements/concerns; (iii) make scientifically based emergency/evacuation plans; (iv) protect property from hurricanes, wildfire, and flooding with cost effective retrofits and (v) help others. The Project will print 30,000 to 60,000 copies of the Homeowner's Handbook to Prepare for Natural Hazards-5th Edition and work with numerous community preparedness groups, hardware stores, and at emergency fairs, workshops and other formats. Videos will be created on hurricane preparedness, wildfire mitigation, and tsunami evacuation for govt. workers, large organizations & the public. Continuing Education Courses will be created and offered for the insurance, real estate and legal industry to help people prepare.
