ʻĀina living infrastructure initiative for Hawaiʻi public buildings

ʻĀina in the Built Environment: Hawaiʻi's Living Resiliency Infrastructure Initiative

Transform Hawaiʻi's public buildings, affordable housing, and urban spaces into interconnected living ecosystems through green architecture, including moss-covered façades and vegetated walls to mitigate heat, native landscaping, community food production, and sustainable food recovery. By integrating climate-responsive design with local agriculture, food preservation, and composting, the initiative would reduce urban heat, improve stormwater management, strengthen food security, reduce waste, and restore ecological function to the built environment.
