2029 Green Fee Funding Request for beach nourishment, dunes and native plantings along Kaanapali beach

Request $4 Million in 2029 Green Fee funding to explore and implement nature-based solutions along the Kā‘anapali coastline, as additional expenditures to further continue the beach nourishment efforts in 2027 and 2028 by utilizing nature based efforts. The initiative would focus on creating natural sand dunes, introducing native coastal plantings, and improving shoreline resilience against erosion, seasonal high surf, and rising sea levels. These improvements are described as necessary and a compliment to current proposed beach restoration and coastal protection projects, helping preserve Kā‘anapali Beach for future generations. Funding support is sought for planning, design, permitting, and implementation of these sustainable coastal improvements.
